“Hello little bear,” said a squeaky voice from behind me.
I jumped, and turned around to see a small Gnome standing on the stone. He was dressed in blue robes that went down to the floor and wore a long blue hat that reached halfway down his back. There was a small fish-bone on the end of it that waved around as he moved. Even his beard was slightly blue. It reminded me of the little waves on the lake's surface.
“Did I startle you?” he grinned. "I hope I startled you. I've not startled anyone for days! Possibly weeks!"
He pulled out a small diary and flicked through the pages.
"September? Nope! August? Noooo! July..., July... Ah! The last time I startled someone was on July the Ninth! It was a small hedgehog that was looking for worms. He was not very happy about it," the Gnome continued, rubbing his bottom! "Anyway. Who are you and what do you want?"
Easy enough to be read aloud to younger listeners and challenging enough for older hands to hold, Jumble and the Turtle King is the second adventure in the ‘Postal-Bear’ series.
Each chapter is just the right length for a great night-time storytelling experience for both the listener and the reader and, with seven chapters in each story, your bedtime reading needs are met for a full week.
I am a little lost bear. I have lost my owner, my friends, my home and my memory. I do have some cloudy memories of a little girl but I cannot see her face when I close my eyes. I cannot remember anything else about my life apart from that.
I think my name is Jumble. That was the name given to me by the old lady who found me.
I am trying to find my way back home using the postal service as a way to travel around the world.
