Lisbon – Portugal

Category:Portugal Tags :

Wow - I am on the move again! I have had a lovely summer in Tbilisi with David, but it is time to move on again and try to find my way home. David said that I can come back whenever I wish, and if I do not find my owner, I certainly will.

I have travelled to a lovely country called Portugal with my Georgian friend, Sopi. So far, we have only been here for one day, but already we have had some adventures:

I have flown for many kilometres from Georgia to Turkey, where we waited for a long time to catch another plane to Portugal.

Once we arrived, and had put our cases in the hotel, we went for a little walk around Lisbon (it is the capital). We saw many interesting statues of people I have never heard of. Sopi said that one statue looked a lot like Stalin. I also did not know who he was, but I did not say anything…

After this, we took a ride on a lovely yellow tram. That was a lot of fun.

However, as always, my favourite part was when we had something to eat. I like Portuguese food a LOT.

All Over Oslo

Category:Norway Tags :

Frogner Park is the largest sculpture park in the world and is full of adults and children and statues - statues of children and adults. I saw so many different things that I lost count.

I do not know all the names of the statues or the names of the people who made them, but I do remember that a man called Gustav Vigeland made many of them and was very important in Norwegian art. My favourite piece by him was the ‘Angry Boy’. I think that, if I went outside and had forgotten to put on my clothes, I would probably be angry too.

I also liked the statue of all the children playing instruments. I should have brought a recorder from Hungary and joined them in a few tunes.

Rebeca and her father, Audun, took me to Aker Brygge and I saw the home of King Harald V. Being a king is similar to being the Gnome Chief.

I also visited Sankt Hans Høgen and Karl Johann Street, where I saw some wonderful things including amazing Troll figures.

Another place was Akershus  Festning – It means Castle or Fortress – They started building it in 1290’s, which is a very long time ago. It has been a castle, a prison and a place to bury important members of the royal family. Rebeca said that it is haunted by a ghost, but we did not see it.

We finally visited a very interesting museum. I learned all about the Vikings, saw their boats, carts and many other things. It was really fascinating. Vikings were very clever people and travelled all over the world long before there was a postal service. I would not have travelled so quickly in Viking days.

Oslo – Norway

Category:Norway Tags :

Just as Hungary was starting to warm up, Rebeca and I travelled to Norway and, once again, I find myself walking around in the deep snow. It doesn't matter how many times I remind her, she sometimes forgets that even a couple of centimetres of snow is up to my knees...

However, I must be honest. Oslo seems very nice indeed. We went to a lovely place called Frogner Park with Rebeca’s father and saw so many different statues that I lost count. I will have to tell you all about them in a different article.

My favourite part was meeting the man who manages an ice cream shop in the Grünerløkka district. I advised him that Rebeca and her mother had not given me a single ice cream since I had arrived in Hungary, and he agreed that it was very poor for a little bear like me to go without for so long. He took me into his shop and gave me two tubs of the most amazing homemade ice cream I have ever tasted in my short life.

The Manager is my new best friend!

The people in Oslo are very friendly and I saw many of them in the park, admiring the statues and playing with their children. However, Norway does seem to get very dark, very quickly. Rebeca’s father explained that it was because we were further North, but I am confused – North is at the top, and I thought that the higher we went, the closer to the sun we would be!

Rebeca and I are only here for three or four days, but I hope we manage to see some more fun things before we leave. She also said that she and her mother have been discussing some places I should visit to try to find my owner, and they have been organising some trips for me over the next few months. I cannot wait to see where I will be going.

Skopje (2) – Macedonia

Category:Macedonia Tags :

I am back in Hungary now, but we spent one last night in the Macedonian capital before flying back.

There were so many interesting statues and buildings that I have to share them with you.

I hope that you enjoy the photos as much as I enjoyed visiting this country.
